授業概要
Course Outline:This class will focus primarily on speaking and listening with some activities involving reading and writing.
到達目標
Course Goals: By the end of this course, students should i)feel more comfortable speaking English to their classmates and teacher on a variety of subjects, ii) have a larger vocabulary base, and iii)have more confidence in their English listening ability. 【1】	SEMESTER ONE : Class introduction- Class rules, some introductory activities.	Most of the activities will be done in pairs and small groups. The focus will be on speaking and listening with some reading and writing exercises.	Students should make sure that they have the proper textbook, an English dictionary and a binder for the class notes.
【2】	Textbook: Chapter 1- Please call me Beth.	Most of the activities will be done in pairs and small groups. The focus will be on speaking and listening with some reading and writing exercises.	It is recommended that students review what was studied in Chapter 1 and also the class prints.

【6】	Chapter 1 and 2 Progress check.	In this class Chapters 1 & 2 will be reviewed.	There will be an in-class review of Chapters 1 & 2, but students are also encouraged to do some independent review on their own.

【9】	Midterm exam.	There will be a midterm exam, either in a writing / listening OR speaking test format.	If time permits, students are encouraged to preview Chapter 4 in the textbook.
【10】	Textbook: Chapter 4- I really like hip-hop.	Most of the activities will be done in pairs and small groups. The focus will be on speaking and listening with some reading and writing exercises.	It is recommended that students review what was studied in Chapter 4 and also the class prints.

【12】	Chapter 3 and 4 Progress check.	In this class Chapters 3 & 4 will be reviewed.	It is recommended that students review what was studied in Chapter 4 and also the class prints.

【15】	まとめ(Summary / Review)	In this class the semester will be reviewed, and the final test contents will be announced. The final exam will be either in a writing / listening OR speaking test format.	There will be an in-class review of what was studied during the semester, but students are also encouraged to do some review on their own in preparation for the final exam.

評価方法
Students will be evaluated on the basis of exams (speaking and writing), homework assignments, attendance and classroom participation.
