This class will introduce first-year Pharmacy students to various topics related to their field of study. For example, the book focusses on such themes as "Basic of Drug Therapy", "Treating Specific Diseases and Conditions", "Side Effects and Reactions", "The Pharmacist's Role." As well, we will study applicable conversations related to Pharmacy, such as prescribing medicine, offering advice and recommendations, home care, identifying and explaining medicine, interviewing a patient, filling out forms, reading labels etc. The following schedule lists only the chapters in the book, and not the theme of the first half of each class. Subject to change. Half of the class will be speaking and writing activities related to Pharmaceutical English, and the other half will be reading and listening exercises from the textbook.

Students will obtain an understanding of the world of pharmacy in both Japan and the world, and learn the appropriate language to use as a future pharmacist with someone who speaks English.
