授業概要
Paul GriceによるStudies in the Way of Words（Harvard University Press）を読解することで、言語研究に哲学的見地を導入することの意義を明確にする。
到達目標
（１）英語専門の大学院生に相応しい高度な英語表現能力の習得を目指す。（２）英語に関する知識は言うに及ばず、文化的・歴史的知識をも習得することを目指す。（３）博士論文の執筆に結びつく知識・英語力を学ぶ。（４）英語という言語に潜む文化体系をも考察対象にし、より専門的な英語学の知識を身につける前に習得しておかなければならない領域の知識を再確認することを目指す。
