| This class will introduce practical English skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) to convey information about events and cultural activities. Students will be mainly involved in producing written event and community information in English, and presenting the information orally.イベントや文化の情報を伝えるための実用的な英語スキル（話し、聞き取り、読み書き）を紹介する。役に立つ会話を積極的に練習するとともに、学生は主にイベントや地域の情報を英語で書いて作成しますが、オーラルプレゼンテーションもします。 |

| 目標① Students will learn English vocabulary and phrases used to convey information about events and cultural activities. イベントや年中行事に関する英単語や文法を学ぶ。（知識・理解） 目標② Students will write event information in English for a community blog and give oral presentations. ブログのためにイベント情報を英語で書き、英語でプレゼンテーションをする。（技能、表現） 目標③ Students will work in groups to research event information, compile information, create English sentences, and edit for style and clarity. グループでイベント情報を調べ、まとめ、英文を作成し、面白さや正しさで編集する。（思考・判断） 目標④ Students will stay informed about community events, and actively collaborate with other students and the teacher to produce English information. 地域のイベント情報を定期的に調べ、クラスメートや先生と積極的にコラボレーションしながら英語情報を作成する。（関心・意欲） |

| Performance will be assessed through a combination of the following: attendance (no more than 5 absences), in-class participation, attitude towards English use, homework/projects, final presentation, tests. There is no re-testing for this class. 総合評価は次の項目を含める：出席（欠席は４回以下）、授業中の参加、英語を使う態度、宿題・プロジェクト、ファイナルプレゼンテーション、テスト。この授業は再試験がありません。 |

| Festivals Around the World (Oxford Read and Discover Level 3) by Richard Northcott, Oxford University Press. Students must buy the textbook. This book will also be used in the 2nd term.テキストを購入する必要があります。後期にも同じテキストを使います。 |

| Office Hours: Tuesdays, Period 2. Building 25 (Media Center), 10F. Students must actively participate in class. Please bring a dictionary (paper or electronic) and notebook to class. Homework and projects will be turned in using Google Classroom and/or other means (e-mail, SNS, etc). Students should have access to a computer, cell phone, and/or smart phone, preferably one with video capability. On the first day, we will register for Google Classroom, so students should bring their mobile/smartphone and university e-mail address/password. Students should also download Google Apps for Education on their smartphone (at least Google Classroom, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs). 授業中積極的に参加しなければならない。辞書（紙版か電子版）とノートを毎回持参。宿題・プロジェクトはグーグルクラスルームや、電子メールSNSなどのオンライン方法で提出する。パソコン、携帯、スマートフォンのアクセスが必須（出来れば録画が可能なもの）。初日に「グーグルクラスルーム」の登録を行いますので、自分のスマートフォンや携帯電話、そして大学が与えたメールアドレスとパスワードを持参するのが必要。初日までにグーグルのアプリ（少なくともグーグルクラスルーム、Gmail, グーグルドライブ、グーグルドキュメント）をスマートフォンにインストールをお勧めします。 |
