授業概要
In this class students researches more in depth some aspect of music performance that are critical to musical excellence: how to minimize Stage Fright, how to develop the optimal strategy for Daily Instrumental Practice and how to gain better understanding of concert venue acoustics. With the aid of the teacher, and the analysis of the most relevant and recent scientific studies, students attain new insights into major aspects of music performance.
到達目標
1) Knowledge and understanding. Students are encouraged to develop the ability to explore diversity in music.
2) Attitude and interest, positive thinking. The students’ Communications Skills are addressed through their expression of informed opinions, researched ideas, and visual or musical presentations.
3) Technique and expression. The Active Learning techniques used at this class improve creative thinking, innovation, analysis, evaluation and synthesis of information.
4) Self evaluation and judgement. Every student is motivated to find a better awareness of the own possibilities as performing musician. Evaluation is obtained trough written assignments and quizzes, and video contributions.

【6】Outline of a script for the video with a simple explanation of Stage Fright-reducing strategies. Group discussion and evaluation. Preparation for the video production. Practice of text recitation for the video.
【7】Recording of a educational video with demonstration of techniques that reduce Stage Fright. Group rehearsing. Performance in front of the camera. 
【8】Project 2: Daily Practice. Overview of merits and necessities of Daily Practice for a proficient instrument playing. Division of research material. Group discussion and evaluation. Study of scientific material provided by the teacher.
【9】Evaluation of the most common Daily Practice mistakes, and review of the most useful practice strategies. Group discussion and evaluation. Elaboration of scientific material provided by the teacher.
【10】Outline of a flowchart that covers different practicing sequences and patterns.Group discussion and evaluation.Test and application of the flowchart.
【11】Review of the feasibility of the flowchart with students of different level. Group discussion and evaluation.Eventual improvement of the flowchart.
【12】Project 3: Acoustics for musicians. Analysis of the problematics and requirements for finding an optimal solution.Group discussion and evaluation. 
【13】Preparation of test recordings to improve analysis of concert hall acoustics. Group work at the computer. Testing in a concert hall like Murasaki Hall. 
【14】Analysis of results. Compilation of a tentative guideline about the evaluation of concert hall acoustics.Group discussion and evaluation. 
【15】Recording of a short video about concert hall acoustics.Performance in front of the camera. 
評価方法
Grading is based off of attendance, in-class assignments, peer evaluations and group projects.
