This class will introduce lesser known cultures to students. Through watching presentations, reading and discussion, students will learn and gain an appreciation for cultures as well as challenge pre-existing ideas of different cultures.

1) Learn about foreign cultures and traditions. 2) Express ideas using simple English. 3) Express reasons for wishing to wanting to learn and visit a country in simple English. 4) Take control of course structure by choosing content and activities.

Performance will be assessed through a combination of the following: Attendance (no more than 5 absences), in-class participation, attitude towards English use homework/projects, final presentation, tests. There are no re-tests.

Credit is determined by:
Attendance and classwork: 40%
Homework: 30%
Tests: 30%
